The convention of a rubric is often the easiest to grade, as it is merely looking at how many spelling, formatting, and grammatical errors the author made in the paper.

Usually, this section of the rubric will have a clearly defined number of errors for each level of scoring.

If you've ever taken a class, taught a class, or learned about teaching, you have probably seen a rubric.

Rubrics are commonly used tools to set expectations and assess student work.

However, research papers often don't include headings.

For example, a research paper should flow clearly and smoothly from point to point.

There are a variety of formats for bibliographies, depending on what writing style your students are using. For example, you might set a certain number of required sources in the rubric.

Students that meet that number of sources earn a higher score, while students that fall short of that number earn a lower score.

You may also want to grade students on the formatting of their bibliography depending on what style they are writing in (APA, MLA, etc).

Finally, you can grade on a combination of both criteria.
