Essay On My Character

I am the type of person who will hang back and observe strangers before making the decision about whether or not I want to join in with the group.

Sometimes I wish that I could make people understand this because I am sure that I have missed out on many potential friendships because of this shyness that seems to come across as my being a nasty type of person, but then again maybe only the people who have had patience are the type of friends that I should be pursuing.

Once I get to know you, that is when you will get to see the real me.

I have often wondered what it is that makes me who I am. I am generally a positive person to be around and I try not to judge anyone for the choices that they make or the beliefs that they subscribe to.

I like to think that for the most part, I am a pretty easy person to get along with.

Or, maybe it is a combination of all of these things because I don’t think that there is one description or label that is capable of defining me completely.I just treat everyone with the same respect that I would like to be treated with. I do not suffer fools gladly and if you try to take advantage of me you are very likely to see a completely different side of me!For example, "I love helping people" is vague and difficult to picture, but "Volunteering at our local nursing home has helped me become more patient and attentive to the needs of others" clearly demonstrates these traits through example.A character essay is about giving admissions personnel a glimpse into the life of the person behind the high school transcript and resume.Kori Morgan holds a Bachelor of Arts in professional writing and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing and has been crafting online and print educational materials since 2006.She taught creative writing and composition at West Virginia University and the University of Akron and her fiction, poetry and essays have appeared in numerous literary journals. Some questions may ask you to write about a personal experience, such as an achievement or challenge, and how it transformed you.Others may ask you to consider yourself in light of someone else's character, such as a person you look up to or a historical figure. The voice for this essay should also be honest and humble, describing yourself in an even tone without embellishment or bragging.Maintaining a positive tone without self-deprecation or prolonged commentary on your weaknesses will also strengthen the voice.
