The report described the crisis of gifted students being underserved in American education, in particular, the lack of participation of women and minorities in mathematics and science programs. Funding for the program is by donations from corporate sponsors and individuals who see the effectiveness and importance of our program and who want us to be able to continue our work to improve the problem-solving skills of many generations to come.

The Institute for Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students was founded by Dr.
Jong Pil Lee in 1992 in response to the report “National Excellence: The Case for Developing America’s Talents”.
In his 1988 book, Techniques of Structured Problems, Arthur B.
Van Gundy offered a more elaborate structre and a more approachable nomenclature, providing specific thinking techniques or exercises for the convergent and divergent steps of each stage.Exploring the Challenge (Objective Finding, Fact Finding, and Problem Finding), Generating Ideas (Idea Finding), and Preparing for Action (Solution Finding and Acceptance Finding).Description: Since the arrival of the now classical Osborn-Parnes structure, any number of academic and business entities have re-sorted and renamed the stages and phases of what we now call the Creative Problem Solving Process (CPS).She has spoken in places as diverse as South Africa, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, the United Kingdom, China, France, Brazil, Mexico, and Greece.Prior to her consulting career, she created new products for Gatorade, the Batman and Star Wars toy lines, Sunbeam Appliances, Fruit of the Loom, Quaker Rice Cakes, and Calgon.The Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students' mission is to enhance the problem solving skills of exceptionally talented students using advanced mathematics and creative thinking.The Institute strengthens our nation's development of young leaders and role models in mathematics, science and technology to allow them to contribute greatly to society.Her work includes designing innovation discovery processes, facilitating ideation sessions, customer insight and co-creation, and leading strategic meetings.Susan was a keynote speaker at the NASA Innovation Expo and is a senior faculty member at the Creative Problem Solving Institute.Manning is also an experienced and successful facilitator, who integrates the tools and techniques of creative problem solving and design-thinking tools and techniques into her engagements.She holds an MS degree from the Center for Creativity and Change Leadership at Buffalo State College.
